An Introduction to Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG)

Four of us attended a training event in May and have shared our experience with the PCC.  In August and September we will undertake a consultation exercise to enable us to hear clearly what our current church family members think about our church and what they think will enable our church to grow.  The first of these exercises will be hosted by the Mothers' Union at a special supper on Wednesday 22nd August 6.30pm-8.30pm.  We hope that this exercise will build a sense of ownership of any changes and developments that lie ahead.  In the Autumn we will run a course called Lead your Church into Growth Local and that will be for anyone who might feel drawn (called?) to help with this.  The national church has recently approved a report called Setting God's People Free encouraging churches to enable everyone in our churches not only to enjoy their faith but to live it more confidently in their daily work and family life, and we hope to see a number of new developments in our church that will energize those of us who have belonged here a while, but which will also draw peripheral and new folk into our fellowship and help us to be more of a resource in our community for promoting the transforming power of God's love for the world in Jesus Christ.

Here is a prayer which we are encouraged to use regularly:

God of Mission,

Who alone brings Growth to your Church,

Send your Holy Spirit to give

Vision to  our planning,

Wisdom to our actions,

And power to our witness.

Help our church to grow in numbers,

In spiritual commitment to you,

And in service to our local community.
