Daniel and his brother Sami have been regulars at our Tea & Toast and starred in some of our nativity plays, but for the past six months we have been praying for him since he was admitted to the RVI with   a sudden and excruciating back pain which left him paralysed from the waist down. He was diagnosed with Acute Transverse Myelitis, an auto-immune neurological condition causing inflammation of the spinal cord. Daniel was always fit and healthy, an athlete and a runner and this has been a devastating experience. He has undergone intensive treatment and rehabilitation with numerous setbacks but has never given up and has gone from being completely bedbound and using a wheelchair to now being able to take steps with crutches and a few unaided.  He was discharged on 21^st June and he is now raising funds for the Great North Children's Hospital Foundation (Newcastle Hospitals Charity) by trying to walk every day aiming to achieve 10,000 steps a week until the 12th of September, the day he would have run the Great North Run.
